NAYEON's ‘NA' Debuts at No. 1 on Top Album Sales Chart

NAYEON from TWICE achieves her second No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart (dated June 29) with her album “NA,” which debuted with 43,000 copies sold in the U.S. during the week ending June 20, as reported by Luminate. This accomplishment follows her first solo No. 1 entry with “IM NAYEON” in 2022.

Joining NAYEON in the top 10 of this week’s Top Album Sales chart are new releases from $uicideboy$, Don Toliver, Luke Combs, and Paul McCartney & Wings. Additionally, the “Twilight” soundtrack makes a return.

Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart ranks the top-selling albums of the week based solely on traditional album sales. The chart has been in existence since May 25, 1991, when Billboard first began using electronically monitored sales data from SoundScan, now known as Luminate. Until December 6, 2014, the Billboard 200 albums chart was based purely on album sales. Since then, it has incorporated a methodology that blends album sales with track equivalent album units and streaming equivalent album units. The June 29, 2024-dated chart will be fully available on Billboard’s website on June 25. For the latest chart news, follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on Twitter and Instagram.

Sales of NAYEON’s “NA” were predominantly driven by CD purchases, which accounted for 34,500 of the total 43,000 sales. Vinyl sales contributed 7,500, while digital downloads made up 1,000. The album’s strong first-week performance was supported by its availability in 15 different CD variants and two vinyl variants, all featuring branded paper merchandise.

Taylor Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Department” climbs from 4 to 2 with 33,000 copies sold, a 42% increase. This boost was largely due to two new CD variants that were briefly available for pre-order in early June through Swift’s webstore, each containing the standard 16-track album plus an acoustic bonus track (“Down Bad” or “Guilty as Sin?”).

$uicideboy$ achieve their highest-charting album on Top Album Sales with “New World Depression,” debuting at No. 3 with nearly 20,000 copies sold. The sales were significantly aided by six vinyl variants, which sold a combined 16,000 copies, marking their best week ever on vinyl. The album also debuts at No. 1 on the Vinyl Albums chart, their first leader on this tally.

Don Toliver’s “Hardstone Psycho” enters at No. 4 with 19,500 copies sold, all from digital downloads. His biggest sales week ever was bolstered by a mid-week release of a deluxe digital download version sold exclusively through his webstore for $5, which included four additional bonus tracks featuring Lil Uzi Vert and Yeat.

Billie Eilish’s “Hit Me Hard and Soft” remains steady at No. 5 with nearly 17,000 copies sold, despite a 16% drop.

Luke Combs’ “Fathers & Sons” debuts at No. 6 with 14,000 copies sold. This marks his sixth consecutive top 10 entry. The album, announced just a week before its release, was available primarily as a digital download, with one CD and one vinyl LP variant sold exclusively through Combs’ webstore.

The “Twilight” soundtrack re-enters the Top Album Sales chart at No. 7 with 13,000 copies sold, following a reissue on vinyl in three different color variants. Vinyl sales made up nearly all of the album’s sales for the week. Originally released in 2008, the soundtrack also debuts at No. 2 on the Vinyl Albums chart.

Paul McCartney & Wings’ “One Hand Clapping” debuts at No. 8 with nearly 13,000 copies sold. Recorded in August 1974, the album was released as a digital download, CD, and in two vinyl editions.

Rounding out the top 10 are Charli XCX’s “Brat,” which falls from 3 to 9 in its second week with 12,000 copies sold (a 69% decrease), and ATEEZ’s “Golden Hour: Part.1,” dropping from 2 to 10 with nearly 12,000 copies sold (down 72%).
