Kino is going on a Journey. An anine about cultural, political, and psychological philosophy. Kino and Hermes travel to various countries to learn about the world and everyone in it, occasionally needing to use 1 or 2 “Persuaders” for defense. Each episode is mostly self contained and out of order, but you can sometimes tell how far along in their journey they are by Kino’s attitude and equipment. With 13 episodes, 2 short films (30 mins each, and 12 min OVA) it is one of the few anine I would consider a masterpiece. It also has a 1 season remake that was of lesser quality, but at least it’s more content I guess.
The 2017 Remake has its moments but don’t expect an enlightening experience, still might be worth reacting to though. The 03 anime adapted and improved upon most of the source material to make the perfect flow for binge watching, while the 2017 version just used a fan poll to decide what chapters/countries to adapt and didn’t really care about the episode order, but it does feature all but 3 episodes of new countries.
