Mushoku Tensei Season 3 Episode 14 is called “Resolve.” This one splits between two households. Rudy sits down with Sylphie and Roxy to talk about bringing another wife into the family, and over on Eris’s side, a letter from Rudy finally shows up and forces her to figure out where she stands. Anime-only — no manga, no light novel spoilers here.

Watch it on YouTube: It’s not Nanahoshi is it!? 😂 | Mushoku Tensei S3 EP14 REACTION. Then come back, because I got a lot to say about this one. I went long on X, my co-host Director Massey got me thinking about the whole household situation, and Eris finally, finally got her moment. Let’s get into it.
The episode in a nutshell (spoiler-light)
If you need a quick refresher on where we’re at in the anime: Rudy is married to Sylphie, and Roxy joined the family as his second wife. Eris, meanwhile, has been gone ever since she left after their night together with nothing but a note, and she’s been off getting stronger this whole time.
“Resolve” is basically two conversations happening in two different places. At home, Rudy has to be straight up with Sylphie and Roxy about Eris and what she means to him. Far away, Eris and the people around her are having their own version of that conversation, right up until his letter arrives. I’m not gonna walk you through every beat, but that’s the setup, and it’s a heavy one.
What I love is that nobody in this episode is fighting a monster. The whole thing is people talking, and it still had me locked in the entire time.
Sylphie’s side
I enjoyed the dynamic with the two wives, Sylphie and Roxy, talking with Rudy about him taking another wife into the house. Sylphie is on board with Rudy adding another wife, but she’s very particular about making sure it’s a woman who loves Rudy as much as she does.
Damn, this guy is freaking lucky, man. That’s how you know you are watching a fantasy show.
I appreciated that Sylphie asked him those kinds of questions, like, does she love you? And then Rudy had to clarify that he thinks she does, and there was a misunderstanding.
Sylphie also made a point to say she does not want to see him hurt again, because when she found him, he was hurt. And he was a little violent, aggressive. Personally, I don’t actually remember the aggressive, violent part too much, but I’m going with her words. She doesn’t want him to go back to that. It was not healthy, and I appreciate that.
I went long about this on X this morning too, so let me run it back here. Sylphie isn’t just nodding along and saying yes to whatever Rudy wants. She’s cool with another wife coming into the picture, but only if it’s a woman who loves Rudy as much as she does. Think about that for a second. His wife is out here setting the bar for the next wife, and the bar is basically “love him like I love him.” Like I said on X: “That’s how you know you’re watching a fantasy show lol”.
And the question she keeps coming back to is simple: does she love you? That’s the whole test. Sylphie doesn’t want to see Rudy hurt again, and she doesn’t want him going back to that violent, aggressive place he was in before. She was there when he was at his lowest, so she’s not trying to watch that happen twice.
Bad company
Because sometimes even in real life, you’re in a good place, and you bring up an old friend you used to hang out with. This isn’t necessarily a marriage thing, it’s a relationship thing too. Someone has to remind you, yo, that person you were around was bad company, and you were in a dark place whenever you were around that person.
I felt like Sylphie was doing that for Rudeus. And Rudeus needed to make sure he had a good reason to go back to her.
That’s real life, man. We all got that one person in our past, and when their name comes up, somebody who loves you looks at you like, you sure about that? That doesn’t mean the person was evil. It just means the version of you that was around them wasn’t good. Sylphie is protecting the Rudy she has now.
Roxy’s side
I appreciate how Roxy used Sylphie’s words as a constitution, so to speak. She held Sylphie accountable to her own words, but still made sure she’s not gonna make any decision Sylphie isn’t on board with.
The way Roxy respects that Sylphie was there first, while also making sure she has her own agency in this? Phenomenal.
That’s the part I wanted to break down more on X. Roxy basically takes what Sylphie said and treats it like the law of the house. Sylphie set the rules, so Roxy goes, okay, those are the rules, let’s follow them. She respects that Sylphie was there first. She’s not trying to jump ahead of her or run the house over her head.
But Roxy is not a pushover either. She still has her own voice in this. She keeps her own agency. She’s the second wife, not the second opinion. That balance is hard to pull off, and the show handled it like grown folks.
Eris’s side
On Eris’s side, I appreciate that her friends are like, yo, does this man even love you? You’re doing all this for him, but there’s no way you can rely on him being available for you.
And then the letter comes in, and this meathead didn’t even know how to open it. Eris can’t read, by the way. Nina can’t read either. That was crazy.
When the letter finally gets read and they hear about Rudy being with other wives, these ladies are like, are you sure you wanna be with him? But Nina was like, did you hear what the letter said? This chick had a one-night stand with him and left him a note. Of course he’s hurt.
Say less
But before anybody can get into the mushy stuff, she hears that the homie Rudy is gonna go fight Orsted, and she was like, say less.
Part of Eris just doesn’t dabble in the mushy stuff. She loves Rudeus. She was unconventional in her love for him. She’s not the brightest light bulb. At the end of the day she wants to fight, so she narrowed in on that.
I don’t know what that means for the relationship, but it’s consistent. When old Rudeus came back and we read the diary, no matter the status of Rudy and her relationship, she was never about letting this man die without pulling up and doing something.
And remember, Eris has history with Orsted. Back in Season 1, she watched Orsted nearly kill Rudy right in front of her. So when she hears that name again, of course that’s where her head goes first. The feelings can wait. Keeping this man alive can’t.
What I said on X
I had to get my Eris thoughts out on X after this one too. First post:
Eris lmao. She just confident she gonna get Rudy with zero awareness that he could be hurt is hilarious to me.
It was what pissed me off but now it’s endearing
Smh at myself lol

And the longer one:
Eris is so much cooler once you get to understand her a bit more she absolutely loves Rudi and will do anything for him.
… her main flaw as I see it…..terrible communication skills and I dunno about her thinking sometimes but I’ll leave it at that.
But all she thinks about his Rudeus and being stronger..for Rudeus.
She’s super bad ass and thankfully still super feminine lol. You hear it in her voice.
I’ve personally gone on an emotional roller coaster with her.
I felt hurt and angry too but I saw this from her perspective and instantly softened up b
She’s going to end up probably one of the top 5 female protagonist at some point for me at the rate they are writing her for Rudeus.
Dope dope writing this season

And then I had to break down the whole Eris side of this episode in one more:
Eris side: her friends are like yo does this man even love you? Then the letter comes in and this meathead didn’t even know how to open it lol. Eris can’t read. Nina can’t read either, that was crazy.
Nina was like did you hear what the letter said? This chick had a one night stand with him and left him a note, of course he’s hurt.
But before any of the mushy stuff, she hears Rudy is gonna fight Orsted and she was like say less.
That’s Eris. Whatever the status of their relationship, she was never about letting this man die without pulling up.
Very very mature episode.
Can’t wait for the next cour in 2027.
I spent the whole first 90% of this season waiting for more Eris and these people played around with me, but I finally get what I want now, it’s just a matter of patience

The three-wives household breakdown (with Director Massey)
I’m looking forward to seeing how Eris fits into this trio, because she has a totally different personality.
The way my partner and co-host Director Massey explained it:
- Eris is out in the field. She’s your bodyguard, goes on missions, makes sure Rudy comes back alive.
- Sylphie is in charge of the house, making sure everything is in order, raising the kids.
- Roxy goes out there and makes that money. She works.
But Roxy’s about to have a baby too, so we’ll see how those dynamics work.
It was a very, very mature episode, and I love the way they tackled the issues.
Shout out to Director Massey, because his question is what started this whole conversation in the reaction: what do you do with three wives? Simple. Get a bigger bed.
But real talk, I’m less interested in Rudy in all this. Rudy is Rudy. What I’m interested in is how three women balance power in one household. Because that’s the real story. Here’s how we broke it down:
- Sylphie is the housewife. She stays home and handles everything. She’s the HBIC, head of the house. If something happens under that roof, Sylphie knows about it first.
- Roxy is the money-making wife. She teaches, she sells wares, she makes connections. She’s gonna live a long life, too, so she’s thinking long term and making sure everybody is good.
- Eris is the bodyguard, the field wife. Kind of like Lilia, except instead of cooking, she handles anybody who shows up at the house. She goes with Rudy and makes sure he comes home.
And here’s my favorite part. If Rudy is with Eris, you already know he isn’t cheating, because Eris would kill him lol. Rudy and Eris together are a duo. They go out, and they’re coming home.
When you lay it out like that, it actually makes sense. Each of them covers something the others don’t. Nobody is stepping on anybody’s toes. It’s a whole system.
Looking ahead: Roxy’s baby and the next cour in 2027
Now, all of that is the plan on paper. Roxy is about to have a baby, and that changes everything. The money-making wife is about to be a mom, and the dynamics in that house are gonna shift. Who picks up what? How does Sylphie handle running the house with more going on? And where does Eris land when she finally shows up? I have questions, and I want answers.
Then you got the Orsted situation hanging over everything. Eris heard that name and was ready to go. I’m just hoping we get to see her and Rudy side by side again.
And like I said, the next cour is coming in 2027. I spent most of this season waiting on more Eris, and the show finally gave her to me. It’s just a matter of patience. I can wait, but I’m not gonna pretend I’m not counting down.
Final thoughts
It was a very, very good episode. I can’t wait for the next one.
