Fall 2026 is stacked, and so is my reaction schedule. I’m covering 11 airing anime right now, plus Avatar: Seven Havens on the western animation side. That’s way more than a quick “first impressions” list can handle.
So here’s my Fall power ranking, 1 through 9, with my first take on each show. After that, two more I’m watching that aren’t ranked yet.
1. Black Clover
Asta and Liebe training in Black Clover Season 2 Episode 1 started solid.
They get the devil union for a flash and then it’s just gone.
Nacht basically tells him if he goes in like that he dies, so he’s still training while everybody else is headed to the Spade Kingdom.
When I was watching a the training session , I was a little worried that Asta was just going to get a power up effortlessly and enter the battle,
but they’re following the classic hero trope .
Everyone is gonna get to fight and have their shine and then Asta will show up at the decisive moment in the battle
There’s still some missing faces though.
That’s gonna be exciting.
It’s beeeeen a looong time but we are finally back

My pinned comment on the Episode 171 reaction said it all: “WE ARE SO BACK!!!!! waited this for so long!!! so happy to have Black Clover Again!!” They’re following the classic hero setup: Asta keeps training, everybody gets their shine, then he shows up at the decisive moment. And Mereoleona came out the gate hot:
This isn't talked about enough 😭😭🥶.
She f*****g k!lled an ancient demon with "one" blow without even trying or using her grimoire 🔥🔥

2. The Apothecary Diaries Season 3
The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 Episode 1 came back on locusts.
Maomao’s home in the pleasure district.
I think this locus plague ties into the previous season. Someone intentionally trying to weaken the emperor. We’ll see. https://t.co/rll50ER7uX

Maomao’s back in the pleasure district, and the season opens on a locust plague. My theory: someone is intentionally trying to weaken the emperor. We’ll see. Same energy as Black Clover in my pinned comment: “WE ARE SO BACK!!!!! waited this for so long!!! so happy!!” And Episode 2? Jinshi just wants some love.

3. Reincarnated as a Sword Season 2
So we started Season 2 Episode 1 of Reincarnated as a Sword and I thought it started off great.
Captured the same energy I remember. Fran just looking for the smoke. There’s already a dungeon to conquer, and we meet this necromancer Jean Douby… and he’s pretty funny.
Not the usual necromancy trope either. Normally I don’t think I’d pick that as a power, but Jean actually makes it cool.
Strange part was how he bonds with his undead. The second he brings them up he gives them personality. Bernard the skeleton. Andy the Overspec Skeleton Wyvern.
Cool choreography. VA was fire. Gimmicks was fire. They fly Andy up to that floating island and I’m sitting there rooting for a bone dragon they just named like fifteen minutes ago.
Very enjoyable episode. Glad we’re back.

Same energy I remember. Fran went looking for the smoke, and Jean Douby naming his undead and actually connecting with them instead of treating them like a mindless army is exactly what I’d do as a summoner. Comfort show, even with all the action.
@yaboyrocklee This is my comfort anime of the season. Really love the father-daughter dynamic between Teacher & Fran

4. Ranma 1/2 Season 3
Just watched Ranma 1/2 Season 3 Episode 2 "The Breaking Point."
You guys are really missing out on this season of Ranma.
We're casually getting some of the best fight choreography I've seen in a long time.
And these people are not even fighting for the sake of the world. They not fighting to save the city. They got a life and death battle over love.
But I can appreciate that in this particular fight, while they may want the same girl, this is about pride. This is about beating your opponent. This is about besting the other guy.
Yeah, you want a girl, but Ranma ain't a simp like that.
And Ryoga, technically he's a simp, but he has his pride, and it was crushed, epically crushed, and my man's trying to stand up for himself. I love it.
Ryoga spent seven days getting crushed by boulders so he could learn Breaking Point.
Came back a tank. Jab hits like a hook. One clean land and it’s a knockout.
And then he only used that.
Didn’t mix it up. Didn’t adapt. Just the master’s training on loop.
Ranma used what he trained AND stacked other techniques when it wasn’t enough.
Everyone has a plan until you get hit in the mouth.
You taking the tank that can eat 800 punches… or the guy who changes the plan when the first one fails?

Y’all are really missing out. Some of the best fight choreography I’ve seen in a long time, and nobody’s fighting to save the world. It’s love, and really pride. Ryoga came back a tank and used one move. Ranma adapted. Everyone has a plan until they get hit in the mouth.

5. The Laid-Off Cheat-Granting Mage Enjoys a Second Lease on Life
“My projection is this is going to be the best anime that I’m reacting to by myself.” That’s what I said after Episode 2, and I meant it: “This is just quality, good storytelling.” After Episode 1 I was already saying “This was a very good one. I’m glad I covered it… I should have done this one sooner.” This P.A.Works adaptation is about Rein the Enchanter, who gets fired from his guild, takes back every enchantment he ever gave them, and starts over.

6. Firefly Wedding
Firefly Wedding Episode 2 made me respect Satoko even more.
Weak body. Strong mind.
She's never seen danger a day in her life. Now she's married to a killer who didn't even know her name. And the way off the island is her playing courtesan for somebody else.
And her line is "If I lack the strength to survive, I'll acquire it."
That's what I mean when I say good MC.
I can't stand the crybaby leads people excuse because they were "sheltered." Satoko was sheltered too. She still presses forward.
And yeah, she told a murderer she'd marry him. People were trying to kill her.
Say whatever you need to say and survive.
Rom-coms love to tell us that if he saved you, now you belong to him. Nah. You might owe him something. You don't owe him your whole life.
Her plan is simple. Use the man, get to safety, get back to her daddy, then go find a proper husband.
I can't knock her for it.
If somebody saved your life, how much do you actually owe them?

Satoko is what I mean when I say good MC. Weak body, strong mind. “If I lack the strength to survive, I’ll acquire it.” And she knows she doesn’t owe a man her whole life just because he saved it.

7. Even the Student Council Has Holes!
“I thought this was fun. I enjoyed this better than episode one.” Building around one character made it easier for me to digest. I’ll be honest, though: “I tend to be more into story-driven shows,” and this one is mostly gags and jokes. It’s a brand-new Studio Passione comedy where Ume Mizunoe joins the student council to save her grades and finds out the council is full of eccentrics.

8. Overgeared
“I enjoyed this. This was dope.” And: “This is a fun, easy show to react to. I like it.” It’s trying a lot of complicated things, “but I’m interested in Overgeared nevertheless.” It’s the VRMMO story of Grid, a struggling player whose luck flips when he lands a legendary class, animated by J.C.Staff.

9. Tokyo Revengers: The Three Titans War Arc
Takemichi is still an average dude who keeps getting back up. As we put it in the YaBoyRockLee reaction to Episode 1: “The fact that the man can be constant and stick to his guns and keep getting up, when everyone else is wavering, he is not. That is a strong, strong foundational piece.” I’m covering the new arc (three gangs fighting for Tokyo) weekly as Season 4.

Also watching (unranked)
JoJo’s Steel Ball Run
The weekly run kicked off September 25, and it was locked on my Fall slate from day one. A cross-country race, horseback grit and Stand intrigue. From the YaBoyRockLee reaction to Episode 3: “While we had all the shenanigans, it’s all connecting. There’s still a main storyline.” And the verdict: “I do definitely like this.”

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 trailer just dropped.
Best Edge Runners trailer they've put out. Ambitious. It's going to be in the running.
The line that got me though.
"You're still mostly organic."
Said like an insult.
We're heading toward a world where staying natural gets you looked down on.
Construction example. Your back is giving out. The other guy has chrome arms, chrome legs, a reinforced spine.
You literally can't compete.
Same energy in gaming. Controller freeze? Nah. Implants. You're in the match. Pop. He's gone.
I look forward to this one.
Would you stay organic… or chrome up to keep the job?

In the trailer reaction I said it out loud: “This is actually the best of the Edgerunners trailers… This is going to be in the running. Whatever they got cooking is an ambitious project.” The idea that stuck with me is being “still mostly organic” treated like an insult. Would you stay organic, or chrome up to keep the job? It drops October 20, and it’s on my Tuesday slot.
