Re:Zero Season 4 is done, the tower is cleared, and I’m still not over it. Between the Recapture Arc episodes, I was posting about this show almost every night. So here it is: my ranking of the best moments of the back half, built from what I was saying in real time.
Anime-only. No light novel spoilers beyond what the episodes show.
5. Emilia’s army of homies (Episode 18)
Emilia this season was something else. She made a whole army of the homies she loves, sacrificed a couple of Subaru knights so she could get to the next floor, and apologized for it.

4. Julius vs Reid (Episode 17)
Two totally different fighting styles. Brute versus elegant warrior. Julius is beautiful in that fight: stunning, elegant. Reid is an absolute animal, and he’s having fun.
I just watched that Julius vs Reid fight in Re:Zero and it was crazy.

The detail people kept finding on rewatch had me hyped all over again:

3. Ram on literal demon time (Episode 18)
Ram connected with Rem the way only twins can. Ram might not have her horn, but they synchronized because of what she learned with Subaru. Whatever memories she has or doesn’t have, she knows Rem is her sister. She loves her, and as the older sister, she’s going to protect her.

Sometimes I feel like her words are too harsh when she’s dealing with Subaru. I never really say nothing about it.
But it matches.
Her true form is a fighter. Relentless. Fast. Strong. Dominating. Powerful one-liners.
Her speech patterns match her fighting style perfectly.
And that made me appreciate her personality a bit more… seeing who she was meant to be.
Cut down defending her little sister.

2. Shaula’s goodbye (Episode 19)
I’m still thinking about Shaula. She waited 400 years for her master to come back. Loud, bad, clingy, always smiling. Stuck guarding that tower the whole time, then forced by the tower’s rules to transform and attack her friends.

Kind of funny there is that post of somebody complaining that Subaru couldn't admit he loves Shaula in that scene.
When it's a similar situation to Rem.
That people ignored the lines before and after it, that show that Subaru isn't being honest in the moment entirely.
He even talks about how seeing Shaula with another man gives him mixed feelings and that's just how a man is.
Beako replies that's bad and the usual flirting jokes come in. He has done this ad nausem in the series.
Arc 6 even has a moment where Subaru claims the girls traveling with them except Ana.
He loves Shaula, just again is awkward because the whole situation surrounding it.

Rem might not remember, but I always will. Subaru was ready to quit, with nothing left in the tank, and she told him she loves him and started him over from zero. That was the moment the show started stealing pieces of my heart.
