Mushoku Tensei and Re:Zero both ended their seasons in the same week, and now we’re just sitting here. Two of the biggest isekai on the board, two huge seasons, two cliffhangers, and no end date on the wait.
So let’s settle it, or at least argue about it properly. Which season was better? And which cliffhanger is going to eat at you longer?

Mushoku Tensei Season 3 or Re:Zero Season 4.
Both just ended and I’m still sitting with both.
Both had groundbreaking stories.
I think Re:Zero was the most intricate. Season 4 Episode 19 closed the tower on Shaula, and Rem still doesn’t know him. Banger season overall.
Mushoku was human and relatable. They picked up towards the end with the diary. Unexpected, costly, and a fantastic surprise.
My favorite of the season was straight up watching Eris train and Emilia whooping ass.
Both girls are such a strong contrast. One is violent and a tomboy. The other is violent and cute 😭😭

Re:Zero Season 4: the most intricate
Re:Zero was the most intricate season of the two, no question. The Watchtower arc stacks timelines, identities and memory on top of each other. Then the finale, “Shaula / Hero,” closes the tower on Shaula’s goodbye and leaves Rem awake, with Subaru a stranger to her again.
It was a banger season overall. And a lot of y’all agree it was the more consistent one:
@yaboyrocklee Re Zero's for sure. It was way more consistent in terms of episode quality for me. Mushoku Tensei had a strong-ish beginning and a strong end but the middle section was honestly not too interesting to me personally

I’m 100% with that. Pretty much everything I enjoyed about Mushoku this season was tied to Eris: the start, the end, and of course the diary, which had me going “yoooo.”
Even the hardcore Re:Zero people came in confident:

Mushoku Tensei Season 3: the most human
Mushoku was the more human and relatable season. It took its time in the middle, then picked up hard toward the end with the diary. That was unexpected, costly, and a fantastic surprise. Episode 14 “Resolve” turned all that pain into a decision. Rudy chooses to fight for the future he wants instead of living the one in the diary.
Where Re:Zero impresses you, Mushoku gets under your skin.
My favorite part of both
Straight up? Watching Eris train and watching Emilia whoop ass.

Eris is gonna come around. Girl loves Rudy too much.

Eris is going to come around. That girl loves Rudy too much. Terrible communicator, but she’ll pull up.
Rem is the one that’s going to eat at me the whole wait. Subaru went through that whole tower so he’d be the first face she sees, and she doesn’t know him. That’s cruel writing, in the best way.

Good point. Mushoku Season 3 only finished its first cour. Ranking it now is like rating a game halfway through. So consider my pick a mid-season verdict.

Here’s what’s actually confirmed. Mushoku Tensei Season 3 Part 2 is officially set for 2027, with no month announced. The announcement teaser centered on Orsted, so we know what’s coming.
Re:Zero is a different story. As of now, Season 5 has not been officially announced. Season 4 ran as two parts, the Loss Arc and the Recapture Arc, and wrapped with an extended finale on September 30.

My verdict
- Better season: Re:Zero Season 4. More intricate and more consistent week to week.
- More personal season: Mushoku Tensei Season 3. The diary hit me harder than anything in the tower.
- Worse cliffhanger: Re:Zero. Rem not knowing Subaru is going to sit with me.
- Easier wait: Mushoku. At least we have a year.
