I’m going to be honest with y’all. For a long time, Eris was the character who annoyed me the most in Mushoku Tensei. She left, she didn’t explain herself, and Rudy was wrecked for years.
Season 3 changed that for me. By the end of the first cour, Eris was the reason I was watching. Let me explain how I got here.

After Episode 14 I put the feeling into words, and it ended up being one of my biggest posts of the month:
Eris is so much cooler once you get to understand her a bit more she absolutely loves Rudi and will do anything for him.
… her main flaw as I see it…..terrible communication skills and I dunno about her thinking sometimes but I’ll leave it at that.
But all she thinks about his Rudeus and being stronger..for Rudeus.
She’s super bad ass and thankfully still super feminine lol.
You hear it in her voice.I’ve personally gone on an emotional roller coaster with her.
I felt hurt and angry too but I saw this from her perspective and instantly softened up b
She’s going to end up probably one of the top 5 female protagonist at some point for me at the rate they are writing her for Rudeus.

All she thinks about is Rudy and getting stronger for Rudy. That’s her entire operating system.
The flaw is communication, not loyalty
What pissed me off before is the same thing I find endearing now. She’s fully confident she’s going to get Rudy back, with zero awareness that he might have been hurt.
Eris lmao. She just confident she gonna get Rudy with zero awareness that he could be hurt is hilarious to me.

Once you see it from her side, she didn’t leave because she stopped caring. She left to get strong enough to protect him, and then wrote the worst possible note about it. Terrible communicator. Loyal to the bone.
Episode 14: “say less”
“Resolve” is where it clicked for me. Her friends are basically asking whether this man even loves her. Then the letter shows up, and she can’t even read it herself because there are too many characters she never learned. Isolde reads it out loud, and it’s Rudy saying he woke up and she wasn’t beside him. He thought she abandoned him.
But before any of the mushy stuff, she hears Rudy is going to fight Orsted and might die, and she’s like: say less.

Eris side: her friends are like yo does this man even love you? Then the letter comes in and this meathead didn't even know how to open it lol. Eris can't read. Nina can't read either, that was crazy.
Nina was like did you hear what the letter said? This chick had a one night stand with him and left him a note, of course he's hurt.
But before any of the mushy stuff, she hears Rudy is gonna fight Orsted and she was like say less.
That's Eris. Whatever the status of their relationship, she was never about letting this man die without pulling up.
Very very mature episode.
Can't wait for the next part in 2027.

Underrated part of this season: Eris has real friends now. People who check on her, give her advice, and ask the questions she won’t ask herself.

I was messing with him the whole time. I respect anyone who says “I still don’t like her, but I respect her work ethic.” That’s a fair place to land. But a lot of people flipped exactly like I did.
@yaboyrocklee I hated her character when we were first introduced, thought look another annoying, bratty tsundere.
But after a few episodes I started liking her. Maybe because they didn’t drag the “tsun” for too long, if she likes you she quickly becomes the sweetest thing ever

That’s a big part of why it worked for me. The show didn’t drag out her tsundere act forever. If she likes you, she becomes the sweetest, most dangerous person in the room.
I called this back in Season 2
Rewatching the Season 2 finale, I remember thinking Rudy on his knees asking Sylphie to accept Roxy was crazy. The moment Roxy joined, I knew Eris was going to be the third wife.
Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Episode 24 “Succession.”
I remember sharply thinking this is crazy…. Borderline appalled… but excited.

Now we get Eris (🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽) and I’m just purely excited!!!!
Wow, from the moment Roxy was added I just knew Eris was gonna be the third wife.

I spent most of this season being teased, waiting for her. By the end I finally got what I wanted. Now it’s just a matter of patience.
Why she’s headed for my top 5
- She’s a full-on badass and still feminine. You hear it in Ai Kakuma’s performance.
- Her loyalty never wavered, even when her communication fell apart.
- She grew without losing her edge. She has friends now, and she’s still the mad dog.
- The writers are clearly setting her up as Rudy’s shield going into the Orsted fight.
At the rate they’re writing her, she’s going to end up one of my top 5 female leads. Dope, dope writing this season.
