Every month my mentions catch fire at least a few times. Some takes I stand on. Some I recant (publicly, like a grown man). Here are the hottest ones from mid-September to mid-October 2026, why I said them, and where I stand now.
1. Fireballs are fine, but multiple wives is “unrealistic”?

This one made the rounds. Mushoku Tensei fans will accept time travel, levitation and summoning lightning, but the line gets drawn at one of the most talented mages alive having multiple wives. Give me Superman’s powers and Henry Cavill’s face tomorrow and see how “unrealistic” that gets. (Not saying I want it.)

Short take, big fight. When a character says something, that isn’t automatically the author’s opinion, and a character isn’t always correct. Characters are allowed to be wrong, hypocritical or still growing. That’s writing. Full thoughts in why a character isn’t the author.

5. Y’all are sleeping on Ranma 1/2 Season 3
Just watched Ranma 1/2 Season 3 Episode 2 "The Breaking Point."
You guys are really missing out on this season of Ranma.
We're casually getting some of the best fight choreography I've seen in a long time.
And these people are not even fighting for the sake of the world. They not fighting to save the city. They got a life and death battle over love.
But I can appreciate that in this particular fight, while they may want the same girl, this is about pride. This is about beating your opponent. This is about besting the other guy.
Yeah, you want a girl, but Ranma ain't a simp like that.
And Ryoga, technically he's a simp, but he has his pride, and it was crushed, epically crushed, and my man's trying to stand up for himself. I love it.
Ryoga spent seven days getting crushed by boulders so he could learn Breaking Point.
Came back a tank. Jab hits like a hook. One clean land and it’s a knockout.
And then he only used that.
Didn’t mix it up. Didn’t adapt. Just the master’s training on loop.
Ranma used what he trained AND stacked other techniques when it wasn’t enough.
Everyone has a plan until you get hit in the mouth.
You taking the tank that can eat 800 punches… or the guy who changes the plan when the first one fails?

I meant it. Some of the best fight choreography I’ve seen in a long time, and nobody’s fighting to save the world. It’s love and pride. Ryoga spent seven days getting crushed by boulders and came back a tank, then only used that one move. Ranma adapted. Plan vs. adaptation is the whole fight.
6. Satoko from Firefly Wedding is what a good MC looks like
Firefly Wedding Episode 2 made me respect Satoko even more.
Weak body. Strong mind.
She's never seen danger a day in her life. Now she's married to a killer who didn't even know her name. And the way off the island is her playing courtesan for somebody else.
And her line is "If I lack the strength to survive, I'll acquire it."
That's what I mean when I say good MC.
I can't stand the crybaby leads people excuse because they were "sheltered." Satoko was sheltered too. She still presses forward.
And yeah, she told a murderer she'd marry him. People were trying to kill her.
Say whatever you need to say and survive.
Rom-coms love to tell us that if he saved you, now you belong to him. Nah. You might owe him something. You don't owe him your whole life.
Her plan is simple. Use the man, get to safety, get back to her daddy, then go find a proper husband.
I can't knock her for it.

7. Ghost Rider only works if it’s scary and sad
Marvel announced Ghost Rider with Ryan Gosling.

Gosling said he's wanted this character a long time. Levy said they were daydreaming about it while working on Starfighter. Feige brought them out at Comic-Con.
I haven't formed a full take yet.
But Ghost Rider only works if it's scary and sad… not just motorcycle CGI and a flaming skull sticker.
Johnny Blaze isn't a quip machine.
He's a man who made a deal and has to live with it.

He’s a man who made a deal and has to live with it. Give me horror-Western, not another shiny action figure with fire effects.
8. If that’s Wanda behind Doom, let it be her choice
Marvel dropped a new Avengers: Doomsday poster this weekend and one of Doom’s witches looks red now.
At Comic-Con in July the witch costumes were green, yellow, and purple.
So everybody’s saying Scarlet Witch.
Elizabeth Olsen has said she’s not in it, and Marvel hasn’t named any of the witches. So right now it’s a theory, not a fact.
But if it is Wanda, I don’t want her mind controlled.
We already watched the Darkhold take her over in Multiverse of Madness. I don’t need to see her get used again.
If she’s standing behind Doom, I want it to be because she chose him.
Doom offers her something nobody else can, and she takes the deal.
December 18 we’ll find out.

I’m not here to tear up anybody’s top 3. I just gotta throw in One Piece. You can’t talk openings of the year without it in the conversation.
Where I stand
Stand on: polygamy physics, characters vs. authors, Ranma, Satoko, Ghost Rider needing to be scary. Recanted: Avatar being a downgrade. Waiting for December 18: the Wanda theory.
